EA Catharsis Thread

So I thought I'd make a new thread in which we can talk about whatever we want. So here it is! Also, because people already started getting their notifications ( ), so we can talk about anything that we see trend-wise with the decisions. So far only the people directly around Georgetown have received thier decisions, so it looks like the bulk of us will get them Monday or Tuesday. Hang in there, everyone! ;)

I can honestly say that I have no clue as to one way or the other. It seems like 50-50, and the closer I get to Monday, the more doubt I have. I just dont even know what to expect.

I know how you feel exactly. I thought that I had an okay chance, but as we get closer to the 15th, I am starting to doubt that. I really have no idea as of now. I can't stand this waiting! :(

Hey guys- Just popping back in for a quick second (almost done with 2 applications! yay!!!) Anyway, I'm 80% sure I'm going to be deferred Monday, and to tell you the truth, I've actually come to terms with it. I swear, I'm not even nervous anymore. It will be what it will be, and if it is a deferral, I'll look at the letter, say "That's too bad," and move on. Seriously. I've really come a long way in the past week, to the point where I now know I'll be sucessful no matter what college I end up at, even if it is my safety school. I love Georgetown, truly love it, and I know it's the right school for me, but if they can't see it, well it's their loss.

So hopefully, I'll finish enough of my apps so I can join you all tomorrow night on the boards. The few times I did check in today didn't look too promising, but who knows. Talk to you all later!

Lauren :)

Lauren, please. You have a 1500, you are an ASSET to them, you make Georgetown look better! I just know you will be accepted. We CCers are going to do well, I know it!

Yeah, Lauren- If you are going to get deferred, then at least 86% of us on this board will be deferred. You have a really good chance (although I am not going to say anything definitively). All we can do is wait and see! And you'll probably hear on Monday, too, because you're on the East Coast! Good luck!

Awww, thanks guys. You know I was just thinking earlier how awesome and supportive this board is. No matter what happens, I seriously don't want to lose touch with all of you.

Well, If i am deferred, I think I will probably leave the board until April. I just can't like a college that doesnt "like" me. I'm sure you understand that. It's like dating someone after they have slapped you in the face, once you are alienated, its over. Let's hope we dont get alienated.

Hmmm... Virginians get theirs Monday I'd guess?

New Yorkers see it Monday...whoa...whoa...whoa...

and i agree with brenner...sort of. It is like dating someone who's hit you...but then you just keep going back, haha

for those who asked on the other board, I applied to SFS.... here is a resume for those who care (ididnt post all above)

I've accepted the fact that I'll be deferred. I'm ok with it now, but we'll see how I feel about it when I get the letter Monday or Tuesday.

my best friend just got into Princeton! i'm sooo happy for him!

Hey guys, here's a really nice note that a mom sent me because she can't post on these boards for some reason. She sent it to me because I am also applying to the FLL (for language majors), but it is kind of directed to all of us:

For some reason my son and I are unable to post on the college confidential site.
My son has applied RD to Georgetown.
He is also looking to attend FLL.
I just wanted to say how very impressed I am with you and the others on the Georgetown thread.
You are very fine young people.
You are all obviously talented and hardworking but you are also very supportive to each other (and all newcomers). You are compassionate and kind.
I hope every single one of you is accepted to Georgetown and I hope that my son will be accepted too. Not only because he truly wants to make foreign languages and linguistics his career --and we all know Georgetown is the place to do it--but because, should he be accepted, he will get to know all of you.
Hang in there.
a Mom from NYC

Isn't that one of the nicest messages you've ever seen? That totally rasied my spirits after reading it. She's so nice! And I really do hope we all get in! :)

Wow, that's pretty cool.

Alita, how have you liked learning Arabic? Is is ridiculously difficult? That's a pretty impressive course to take "on the side"

I wanted to take Chinese next semester, but the only place it is offered in Southern California is a community college that's an hour commute both ways...I'm kind of worried that picking up a whole new alphabet and such will be too insane a task in college.

Arabic? That's awsome. I'm planning to study either Arabic or Russian during college in preparation (hopefully) for a career in the Foreign Service. I also plan to go into the military after undergrad, so I might be able to use and improve my language skills there as well.

BTW, it's very disheartning to see that you were deferred. My chances at this point are pretty much nill. :/

i can't see any differences between those deferred and those accepted. bleh.

i think that's the way EA always goes, its usually self selective with stats/etc so its just up to the college which one they want :/

the answer must lie in the essays
