EA Catharsis Thread

And congratulations to you too netshark2005!!

And to those that have gotten deferred, don't worry. There's still hope!!

To those that didn't get a reply yet, it should be there tomorrow!! Good luck...

Oh man, this is so exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats to the Georgetown board, from the Georgetown board!

OMG netshark and brenner, CONGRATULATIONS!! This is soooo awesome!!!! You guys I'm seriously flying I'm so happy right now!!! This is a dream come true!!!

Babybird and other deferees- DON"T give up hope. I'm so sorry that Gtown didn't recognize how outstanding and accomplished you are. A lot of people I know who got into Gtown were deferred at first, then let in. I know you're probably feeling crappy but you guys are awesome people and things WILL work out.

now for calidan and tlaktan...

i just can't understand why...it's a question that will plague me and hurt me for four more months

hey babybird, if you want to send me or anyone else your essay to read, I'd be glad to do it. netshark2005 at hotmail .com

are you on aim right now?

and it's a bit late for essay editing, though thanks

Same here, babybird. And seriously, if you want any help with any part of your app, just let me know.

If I were you I would send at least 1 more letter, maybe another essay, your grades and a letter expressing your interest still.

another essay about what? i'm getting another rec...but somehow it all feels really empty...like if they don't want me, why am i even trying....

What you need is a major accomplishment during the next few months. Maybe try thinking of a fundraiser, or some other event that you can organize and tell Gtown about. And you should send it along with a letter reiterating that Gtown is your first choice and explain WHY it is. Good luck!!

well, perhaps you can send in a revised version, or like Lauren suggested, an entirely new essay. In the letter, they said they only took 22% of EAs, so don't blame yourself. For many of those accepted (possibly including some of those who were on this board) it could have gone either way. Don't let the deferral get you, though, Georgetown is still the same school, and if you get in RD, you'll enjoy it jsut as much.

I agree with everyone netshark said. And the essay could really be about anything- just let your personality shine through. Babybird, I'm going to go on AIM right now if you wan to talk. My sn is the same (laurenh87)

i'm just not sure i want to go to a school that doesn't want me

Babybird, just because you were deferred doesn't mean they don't want you. I know one of hte current freshmen at Gtown said that they don't like to admit people they aren't 100% sure are going to attend. Maybe they weren't sure if Gtown was your first choice.

Oh my gosh you guys! How exciting! Major major congrats, you must be thrilled...

I'm not sure if the Cali folk will get there's today. I'm still at school but was wondering how things turned out for you!!!

Tlak and Calidan, hoping good news comes our way today, huh?

I don't think I can wait any longer!

I'll keep my fingers crossed, Manderz. I have a good feeling about all you guys (Tlak, Calidan, etc.) I really want to know other peoples' results, though. I hope everyone posts them no matter what.

Anyway, I'm off to go out to dinner with my parents (celebratory sushi, yay!!!!) Screw the homework- I'm celebrating tonight!! I'm so totally euphoric right now. I only wish that there didn't have to be deferrals. :(

Awesome job guys!! Go celebrate!! Well, if you other Southerners haven't gotten yours today, I probably won't get mine either. But I've checked my mailbox twice in the last ten minutes, though... hahaha, I'm such a dork. I just drove down my street to see where the mailman was. No sign of him yet. :(

And a lot of times, a school really wants to admit almost everyone that applies, but jsut can't. Its isn't that they don't want you, its just that they had tooo many qualified applicants. I'm willing to bet you that you'll get in in April. If you seriously love Georgetown, and if it truly is your dream school, you'll wait. Don't be disappointed, just make sure they get to know that you really, truly do want to attend.

i looked at everyone's stats and the one thing they seem to have in common was a very high rank. my rank was definitely not as high. but whatever. i'm upset but i'm just going to shut up about it haha

I'm so sorry babybird. But remember, it will all work out in the end. Don't beat yourself up too much, okay? You did the best you could and if Gtown can't see that, well screw them.
