Hi everyone! I figure now that EA results will be coming through Monday, that it would be appropriate to begin a thread solely for those waiting for the long haul regular decisions.
Obviously a big congratulations to those accepted early, to those of you deferred I’ve been reading that gtowns early rate is actually LOWER then the regular rate. I’m sure a bunch of you who were deferred will be accepted regular decision!! Congratulations on all you have achieved and all you will achieve, in this seemingly endless wait until April 1. Do we have any guesses as to WHEN RD admittance letters will come out??
are SFS and CAS the hardest colleges to get into at georgetown?
I believe so
CAS is slightly harder than SFS, as far as I know
Just got deferred, but I’m certainly looking forward to the spring decision. I know we can make it!
Deferral really sucks. I think gtown must have deferred many qualified applicants
@nsliyromanov I think so, too. Like you said, the acceptance rate was lower this year than past years (about 10% it said on the paper). So I’m going to bet on the spring and see what happens :)>-
@Cosmopolitian13 you’re so positive it’s great!! I’ll PM you
@Cosmopolitian13 I’m in the same boat as you, we’ll see what happens!
Hello friends. Current Georgetown student here. I’m procrastinating studying for finals right now, so feel free to ask me anything.
Okay, I’ll shoot. I have an SAT score of 1640, ACT of 25 (I’m a horrific standardized test-taker), yet I’m taking a multitude of successful APs and have an unweighted GPA of 3.96, weighted 4.75. With the SAT subject tests I just recently took and a possible deferral letter, do you think I still have a chance of making it in? Any possible tips for making it in on deferral?
@Cosmopolitian13 If I remember correctly, Georgetown doesn’t take into account your writing SAT score, so you’ll need to adjust for that. In any case, your score is definitely on the lower end. My current roommate was deferred EA and admissions told him that his best shot at making it regular decision was to raise his test score. He did, and now he’s in. If the rest of your application is solid then your best bet is to raise your standardized test score.
Anyone know if you can rewrite essays if you’re deferred? I feel like one of mine really didn’t show who I am and I have some really good info I want to add to it…but from what I heard doesn’t seem like we can?
Disappointed with my deferral but hopeful for RD! Any tips on making it through the next few months? Good luck to everyone else who’ll be in it for the long haul!
@JoeGoe Did your roommate get in contact with admissions by phone or by email? And what did he ask them when he spoke to them? Was it just a simple “Hey, what can I do to improve my chances?” or was it more flowery than that?
@ellesea His school counselor call admissions for him.
@JoeGoe Thank you!
Great to hear from a current student @JoeGoe , how is everyone using up these next four months
So I think everyone here who got deferred saw that the EA Applicants who got in got a call from GAAP notifying them of their acceptance. Does anyone know if GAAP/Anyone does this for the RD Applicants who get in too? I’m not going to be in town when the letters come in on April 1st and I just want to know if I should be clinging to my phone around the time lol. Good luck to everyone in this RD period, I hope things work out for us all
