My decision just turned from Pending to Reached as of today, aah!
My GPA is 4.0 UW, and weighted is something like… 4.2? or 4.3? and my SAT is 2270 superscored, which I know is well above Chapman’s standards, but I’m still nervous because I know Public Relations/Advertising is a competitive major for them. I have a handful of EC’s and I think my essays were good, but that Creative Resume… I don’t know what they’re expecting!
Good luck to all applying :)

Skippy, that is so exciting. Your stats are fierce so maybe they didn’t need as much time to consider you. My D’s is still ‘pending’.

Anyone else have a status change?

Longrange and gladiator, thanks for the input. It is really helpful to hear from those already in the program.

We plan on visiting Chapman in Jan or early Feb if she is accepted. I know how much actually seeing the campus can impact a decision and it is crucial to get a feel for the place. From what I read, Chapman will not disappoint!

Good luck everyone!!

Oh my!!! Just checked again and my D’s status also changed to “decision reached”. This is so much earlier than she expected. I know her school just sent out first tri grades so perhaps that sealed the deal, or sealed her fate? So scary/exciting!

Anyone else getting a status change?

Now we just have to wait until it changes to Decision Mailed… hopefully that won’t be too long! And definitely visit the campus, it looks and feels like a resort, it’s gorgeous.

From what I can tell reading last year’s decisions… the status went from pending to mailed and skipped reached entirely. The waiting will be tough!!! Very best of luck to you!

Skippy…We will definitely visit the campus if she is accepted. It does sound beautiful. What will really impress my D is the equipment and resources which I hear are also outstanding. So, she really needs to see it. If the decision is a rejection I am hoping some other college sends a ‘yes’ to offset the bad news. We are in Texas so the mail might take even longer. Where are you from?

Yeah, it seems different this year so who knows! I’m from California, but Chapman is still far enough for an hour or two flight.

OH MY GOSH, I didn’t expect any activity until the end of December. You guys sent me scrambling over to my daughter’s Admission Status. Unfortunately, hers still says Pending. That’s understandable because her stats are not over the top.

I guess everyone has to wait until they make it through all of the applications for all of the majors before decisions get mailed? Or will they spread out the mailings as decisions are made?

My DS status switched to Decision Reached this morning. Honestly, it made my heart jump! Now the long wait for the mail begins…

How many times a day can one mom check the website and the mailbox??

Best of luck to everyone!

I know what you mean Beaverdalemom!! Since my D’s status changed on Saturday, I won’t really start expecting anything until at least Wednesday… and then I’ll probably stalk the mail carrier until something arrives.

For those without a status change. My friend’s daughter also applied and she (the mom) called the school today. They said decisions would go out after the 20th. So, it sounds like they are really getting this done a lot earlier than last year.

Things are going faster this year, perhaps. I had thought we heard in late December last year, but I was mistaken. I just checked and DS’s acceptance did not arrive in the mail until mid-January, 2012! It was a difficult wait. I do hope it’s less drawn-out for all of you this year!

Ugghh!! My daughter’s status still says Pending. I know that it is not a good sign.

I’m still pending, too, Coral. We can worry together, haha.

And wow, the 20th! I wasn’t expecting that soon.

Do you really think that the time it takes to change from Pending indicates a bad/good sign as if you got accepted?

And if you’re on the prospective student facebook group, someone from Chapman’s admissions posted this:
“As of now, Early Action Decisions will be mailed out on an ongoing basis starting December 20. That date could change, but everyone’s really pushing to get the decisions mailed out before the holiday break. If you applied to the film production program, those decisions won’t start going out until mid-January.”

So excited for you all! Do keep us posted on what you hear. It is definitely a time of nervous excitement. D, a freshman in film production, didn’t get to hear until Feb last year, but that was her first film school acceptance so I went out and bought a cake that day! Until then, try to calm down by drinking lots of eggnog and wassail!

Skippymanie, I’d say some majors, film production, digital arts would be comparing apples and oranges to majors that don’t require portfolios. Some Dodge prospective students who submitted portfolios would logically have delays so early in the game. I don’t believe that not having a status change presently equates a total write off. I’m pleased they take longer to review the portfolios seeing how it carries the most weight.

Still “Decision Reached” and not “Decision Mailed” here … argh!

I am interested to check out the Facebook page for prospective Chapman students, but can’t find it. Skippymanie, do you know what it’s called?

Hang in there, everyone!

Whalie has a point. That’s why I’m not worrying. Yet. Also, there was an error with my film rec, and that might postpone it a bit. I just hope that I don’t get pushed in with film production. :P
