EA Discussion: Anxious Waiting to Commiserations

Oh my goodness, the waiting is really getting to me now. Especially after Dartmouth and Columbia’s decisions today, I just want to know!

But the worst part is, I’m feeling increasingly hopeless about this now. I dunno, I’m just expecting a rejection now :frowning: I don’t know how I’m going to handle waiting until April for RD decisions, ack!!

^ Hmm… Maybe Cartman and Butters had it right. What if you froze yourself for a week so you wouldn’t have to wait?

Wow, I think I am onto something… :p

Where do I sign up?

I refresh the blog page…I see a new blog…I have a heart attack…It’s not the date.

Hopefully they’ll post the date Monday and it’ll be the 14th-15th! They seem to like posting on the 10th.

^oh my goodness, that would be awesome! I’d reallly, really like it if decisions came out on the 14th, but it looks like the earliest potential day now is the 15th.

Looks like we might be finding out the date on Monday though. A definite date would be very very very nice to have :)

What are you guys doing to pass the time? I’ve got one more week of school left here, then going home for the holidays.

I expected that MIT announces a date during this week. Unfortunately not done. I wonder how much of this delay is due to Sandy?

or is it (delay) due to boatload of applications?

There is no delay.

In the past five years of releasing decisions online, EA decisions were released sometime between December 15-17. Thus the dates on which MIT released the decision date has been between December 10-12 (it’s almost always 5 days before release date).

You can expect that date to be released next week, with decisions either next weekend or early the following week.

MIT has hundreds more applicants each year, so they do an incredible and efficient job with a quick turnaround on EA decisions.

My current guess (and hope) is:
Announcement on 10th.
Release on 15th.

If not that, then:
Announcement on 12th.
Release on 17th.

Anyone got any games or something to liven up this thread? I need help to get through this last bit of waiting! This thread is so dead compared to most on CC :/

Caltech applicants just got decisions.

Why did I think MIT’s notification date was always 3/14?

That is the typical regular decision release date (MIT loves Pi, of course). We’ve been discussing the release date for early action applicants.

Ah duh. This is December isn’t it :)

And with every passing day, I shall gravitate towards Caltech until MIT things come in. So I hope they hurry (:

So whats some differences between CalTech and MIT?

I think Hurricane Sandy may have pushed the application process back. Except it was in the south and before the deadline…hm.

There are several differences between Caltech and MIT on a whole host of levels. As it relates to the admissions process, the biggest difference is around the total number of applications received. Last year, MIT received over 6K EA applications. That number surpasses the total number of applications received by Caltech. I hope that helps a little bit as to your question about admission process differences.

Blessings to all as we wait.

well, today’s finally here. Decision Date Day? I guess we’ll see :S I just want to know already!!

but I’m almost sure I’m going to be rejected. I’ve gone full circle since Nov. 1; then, I was almost scarily sure that I was going to get in. argh :/

I’ve been looking at some of the assignments for the GIRs and such though that I found posted online, and they all look scary hard…pretty sure MIT is not really the place for me after all.

The decision date hasn’t even been released yet, let alone come.

Guesses for the decision date range from the 15th to the 20th.

I think it might be safe to extend that range through December 21st :p

Oh gosh, government exam and MIT decision on the same day? It really will be the end of the world! Haha, I really hope we find out saturday, I am starting to lose it with the anticipation. :P

@molliebatmit : Do you know if they are in selection committee yet at least?
