Im confused about early action, early decision, and regular decision. What are the differences? Pros cons?
Thanks

Early Action - Non binding, you can apply to as many early action schools as you want plus one early decision school (but if you get in early decision, you must go to THAT school)

Early Decision - You can only apply to one ED school (but you can apply to many EA schools) If you are accepted ED, you must attend unless you can prove that you cannot financially afford the school etc etc.

Single Choice Early Action - You can only apply to one school single choice early action (no other EA and no other ED). If you are admitted EA, you are not required to attend.

Regular Decision - This is the typical January 1 deadline. You can apply to as many as you want.

Most "early" places have higher acceptance rates early (with the exception of MIT I do believe), so you have a better chance.

Of course, you could get deferred early and accepted in the regular round.

There is also rolling admissions which is you send in your application and they'll send you a decision after they review your app.
