EA or wait to retake SATs

(Keep in mind, I understand how selective Uchic is and that it is a reach school(for myself as well as basically everyone). I just want the best shot of getting in as possible.)

I just viewed my SAT scores from the October date, and my math isn't as high as I was hoping(760 CR/650 M/730 W). Considering my low GPA(3.5), I feel like I really need my SAT's to make up for it.
My EC's include huge involvement at the school and state level for a student-run political organization, vp of nhs, religious activities, competing in the international equestrian association/riding since middle school, and involvement in the queer community, and photography. Letters of rec are great, and essays are creative and (hopefully) showcase my intellectual nature. Despite the low math score, transcripts show a's in all math classes since 9th grade(algebra 2-calculus, alg 1 and geometry were in middle school and those grades are not fantastic), plus 2 AP's(my school only offers 3), and directed interest in Photography in electives.

Should I go ahead and submit EA as I was hoping to, or wait to take the SAT in November in hopes of a better math score? How much difference would that actually make?

One strategy would be to apply EA with the thought that you will either be accepted or deferred. If you are deferred then you will have the opportunity to submit your latest, hopefully higher, math score. You can also help yourself by having a very strong first semester of your senior year.

The only way, I think, it would not be good to use this strategy is if you were wanting to apply to one of the single choice early action schools.

Your stats is on the boarder line. You should go over past self-reported thread on CC in the UOC forum to see if you are in the outright reject category to determined if you should apply for EA. You won’t have a chance to enhance yourself if it is outright rejected by the school in the EA round.

what did you decide to do?

I ended up not my arts supplement or essays as finished by the EA date as I wanted, so the SAT scores ended up being a moot point anyways and I’m now applying for RD. I should have my app submitted by New Years Eve :)
