EA people: other schools?

This weekend is my time for finishing my other applications (that's what I should be doing right now :-) ). I really really really hope I get into Yale, but even if I do my parents want me to have other schools, especially for financial considerations.

Where else is everyone applying? And does anyone know of a good college with rolling admissions that would be beneficial to look into? (I'm a future English and possibly music major). I'm a little light in the safety school area, and it'd be nice to have another decision before April.

As of now, I'm applying to:

Harvard
Princeton
Dartmouth
Brown
Williams
Carleton
Colgate

Does anyone else love Common App online? :-) And why is Brown the only one with their own app?

Certainly look at University of Michigan.

Since you're from New York, I would recommend applying to SUNY Binghamton.

Brown and Columbia have their applications through the same system, the "apply yourself" system. I think some colleges take pride in their non-conformity.

haha, U Chicago, with their Uncommon App.

princeton has its own app too... though I guess they say that they treat the common app the same way.

quiltguru, I will definitely check into it.

jli2006, for some reason I'm prejudiced against SUNY schools. I shouldn't be, most of them are really pretty great. Maybe it's just because most of my schoolmates ONLY look at SUNY schools.

Non-conformity is good in a school. And it's definitely a way of making sure students really want to come to your school. But the Common App is a timesaver when it comes to the basic, repetitive stuff. Though some schools ask for some of it again on the supplement anyhow.

I'm actually filling out the Princeton supplement right now! The essay topics are pretty cool, I did the Albert Einstein curiosity one and then the favorite quote one.

sarelieva, I know the feeling. Most of my classmates will end up at SUNY schools, but it's nice to know you have that safety net behind you anyway. In case it helps at all, my "safety"/"match" schools (who really knows nowadays?) are NYU and Wellesley, but it seems like you're more interested in smaller schools, so NYU probably isn't for you.

I actually really wanted to go to NYU when I was in middle school, my other major interests besides English (I want to be a writer) are vocal music and theater.

I was still looking at it up until this summer, but I was kind of overwhelmed when we went to visit. You're right, I am looking at smaller schools, though part of my criteria is that my college needs to be bigger than my 1400 student high school. :-)

Don't apply to NYU. LOL, everytime I walk by the campus I say to students, I'm sorry you go here. It's not that great a school--WAY overhyped.
