Earlier than December 15th!?!

Like most people who have applied early, I'm starting to freak out about decision time coming around so soon. Question is, how soon is soon. I hear that many kids have heard prior to Dec. 15 and that NU sends decisions as soon as they are ready. Do any of you know the earliest people have found out last year? this year even? Larger applicant pool or not, meaning longer delay? Any gossip or info you have would be great.

They have had a history of releasing decisions prior to the 15th.

My prediction is the 11th because it’s the Friday before and logically they wouldn’t have to do much more with an extra day (Monday the 14th) to arrange Acceptances and Rejections. My guess is that they have most of the decisions done and will soon be in the process of fixing the paperwork, etc.

My friend thought the 11th would make sense too. Thanks.

Anyone else know info from last year?

hopefully the 11th

I can’t wait anymore…I don’t know what to do with myself until then.

last year my friend reccieved his on… id like to say the 13thish, but this year dec. 15 is a tuesday, so 11,14, or the 15 are your best bets, and maybe 12th if they work over the weekend.

last year was the 13th, saturday morning via email (letters sent out arrived shortly after that)

Two years ago, I think it happened on a Tuesday because my D had something to do that night and was so excited, she didn’t go! We were caught off guard because it was several days earlier than was expected. We were tipped off by a friend who was on College Confidential and somehow the CC participants not only “nailed” the correct date but the time! I remember that we were told 6 pm and we stupidly thought that meant 6 pm EST (since WE are on the East Coast) but it was 6 pm CST so we had another hour of waiting. We heard via e-mail on her applicant page (it suddently changed) and then we got a letter in the mail the following day. I think the process was a bit different last year.

What “applicant page”?

Remember…this was TWO years ago. There was an “Applicant Services” (or something like that) page that told her everything was received and told her to check back in mid-December. Don’t know if they still have that. It had the same status for about a month until that night.

As I said, we were lucky to have received a “tip” from someone who had been closely following College Confidential. In retrospect, I think she had also received an e-mail later that night telling her to look at that page.

I think they tried a different approach last year that had some problems. I don’t know what they will do this year.

My son was admitted ED the same year as alliesmom’s daughter - the decisions came out the evening of Dec. 11. He received an email around 6 PM telling him that his decision was available on the page alliesmom mentioned. He wasn’t able to check the page for a few hours after that, but when he got home he logged on and up came the acceptance letter on the screen. A letter followed in the mail a few days later. There was some change in the process last year - I think maybe the decisions were sent out in emails and there was no page to log onto?

Yea, I’m pretty sure they aren’t using an applicant services page anymore (unless it is still used for some rarer applications/scholarships/international services; I can’t speak for anyone other than commonapp applicants). I didn’t think they worked over the weekend so I’m surprised at the Saturday morning comment. I was thinking it would either be Friday, Monday, or Tuesday (hopefully friday). Wonder if the applicant pool is any larger than last year…maybe it would be a tell as to how quickly they will finish applications.

statistically the biggest classes has passed – it was the class of 2012, 2013 – and now, the class is supposed to get smaller. I WANT MY NOTICE NOW

Ugh…the realization that I might not get in just dawned on me. And my back up plans are nowhere near as good as Northwestern…I need to start researching other colleges and apply to them before their deadlines nears…

Does anyone know how they are notifying this year? E-mails? Letters? Both? I’m getting really anxious…and scared.

Also, anyone know statistics? How many people have applied ED this year and etc.?

i believe the decision will be send out via email. my guess. since there is no application page for students to check anymore.

also wondering how many ppl applied ED tis year…

Around 1,700, I believe. Look up “ED apps” on nuintel.org.

[NU sees 8 percent increase in early apps | NU Intel](<a href=“nuintel.net - This website is for sale! - nuintel Resources and Information.”>nuintel.net)

1,670 apps…

They usually lose a few dozen apps. Last year, the initial number topped 1,700, but it ended up being somewhere in the high-1,500s because about 100 applicants withdrew their application or moved it to Regular Decision.

Argh…is it just me or do the days get longer as the special date nears!!! 3 days min, 6 days max!

I’ve been so busy that it hasn’t been on my mind much, except in the evenings when I check this forum… the plus side is that it only seems as long as a normal week, haha. Already almost halfway there!
