Does anyone know anything about honors scholars program? I saw the statistics on website. Do you know if they are strict on sat requirement? Thanks

Yeah those scores on the website are requirements for the application to open up for you. I’m in the honors program and didn’t get the ability to apply for it until I met the minimum test scores

@bbe267 thank you for the information. D received an invite and I knew her grades were well above the requirements but her SAT was off by 50 points. Thank you. Have you enjoyed the program so far?

Yes, but there isn’t really much that goes along with being in the program. You are only required to have taken 8 honors classes by the time you graduate in order to graduate with honors. So it’s really only 1 honors class per semester. Other than taking my one honors class this semester, I didn’t do anything with the program. I don’t know what other schools your daughter is applying to or her GPA/test scores, but the academics of the honors program and High Point in general are not what I expected of “college”.

Just try to not be attracted to the amenities of HPU, and have your daughter focus on the classes she would be taking and if they will be setting her up for a good future outside of HPU. I was too focused on the amenities and now I’m looking to transfer to a more rigorous school that will better prepare me for after college.

Thank you for the insight. She is still trying to make up her mind. She wants to be a physicians assistant, so she likes that HPU has the graduate program.
