No scholarship? sad face.

Hey everyone,

I just called the admission office twice and i was told BOTH times (by different people) that NO scholarship information is sent out with the admissions letter. It DOES NOT MATTER if it is need based or MERIT based. They do not send out ANY scholarship information until February. I am planning on calling again…but for those that said they got scholarship information according to the admissions office, they have not sent that out yet. For those still waiting, have hope! :)

yay accepted :)

gpa: 90/100

thanks mahnckla thats good to hear!

SAT II: Literature - 690 U.S. History - 710
APs: English -5 US History - 4

mahnckla, i got my letter today and with it said that i recieved the dean’s scholarship (min 10k); maybe the admissions person meant that people do not find out the complete amount until feb? im not sure

Fordham does offer preliminary scholarships early, so those who have heard about getting scholarships probably received that. However, your may get even more money for your scholarship, or if you have not yet been given a scholarship you may be given one in February. The admissions lady was a little confusing…so i guess we all just must wait and see! :)

Correct. I think some people may get preliminary offers of scholarship. Typically they tend to have SAT’s over 1400 and gpa’s above 3.7 UW. That isnt absolute, however, but just the normal from anecdotal comments. Formal offers of scholarships come out beginning in February and can continue later. It all depends on the applicant pool both for EA and RD.

If you don’t receive a scholarship, fear not. Submit your CSS and FAFSA and the financial aid package may provide you the money you need to attend, after your family EFC.

Congrats to those who got in. Welcome to Fordham.

I would love to know the numbers of applicants for this year’s EA pool and their avg. stats. I wonder if they went up again this year?

ghostbuster, I hope you and I are right. I love Fordham and my mom went there, however I was really counting on a scholarship. No scholarship = no go! :(

I think the stats did go up for this year. Fordham is continually getting harder to get into. My mom doesn’t think she could get into Fordham if she applied today. ;p

hey i got accepted to the business school w/ the deans scholarship heres my stats http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/828884-promise-chance-back-chance-me-senior-ea.html

mahnckla…I don’t know how they decide who gets a scholarship and when…but I do know that nothing is final until they are through with the RD cycle. In any event, submit your css immediately (which is required for all scholarship recipients anyway) and your FAFSA as soon as its available. Your financial aid package may include grant money, which is like a scholarship without the prestige. It will all work out. Have faith.

My kid is at Fordham now and doing exceptionally well, though working very, very hard. Its all going to pay off in the end.

The good thing about Fordham is that its EA and not ED. That allows you to wait until May and see what other offers you have before committing.

Its a great school. Welcome to Fordham.

Thanks ghostbuster! I hope it all works out too!

I just want to say that a lot of you guys have really impressive stats and I’m sure you are going to get into a bunch of awesome schools. But try not to forget about Fordham! I absolutely love it here and hope some of you feel that it is a good match for you. Good luck!

I received the Semifinalist Scholarship. I know for a fact that I don’t qualify for financial aid, but do I still have to fill out the CSS profile and FAFSA? Will I lose my scholarship if I don’t?

I do not believe you will lose you scholarship by not applying for financial aid. The semifinalist scholarship is merit-based, not need-based. Applying for financial aid is optional.

Here is the undergrad financial aid website for more info:
