We should be patient. But all this waiting has me wanting to go down there and lick my D’s envelope myself!
Are we basing the decisions “sometime this week” off of the email or regular mail? Because if the regular mail is supposed to arrive by friday the email will come before. Oh well, I’m done stressing about it. We’ll get it when we get it.
I think we were basing the “sometime this week” on the email. Someone mentioned that the regular mail would come out a few days later.
Lol - wouldn’t it be great if we really were all done stressing?? The woman in the admissions office said decisions would be posted online one of the days this week, with snail mail to follow. My guess is they drop the envelopes into the mail at the end of the same day they post online.
thanks @janjmom I admire your courage for calling. I keep thinking that if I call to ask a question I might get a terse, “no information…and what was your name again?” LOL I watch too many movies.
What’s funny is that some schools do note an exact, specific date on their admissions site. Seems like a good way to avoid all this sturm und drang.
Well…, the Ivies all release on one day. Avoids too many calls to admissions. Many schools say “by” a date, then usually release ahead of that date.
I like the schools that release decisions just as admissions office is closing for the weekend. I mean, I get it but it is still kind of cold. IMHO. U of Chicago releases on March 26. That date has been on website for months now.
Just heard from Dickinson admissions on another matter: she said the decisions would be released “In the next two weeks”. Hmmmm.
Ugh… I thought we were so close. This is depressing.
Wait what? They just changed the time on us???
I just emailed them! If I hear back, I will put their response in here.
I don’t know…I had to contact admissions counselor about something and just asked, so, early action decisions this week? and her response was “sometime in the next two weeks”. That was earlier today.
I’m 95% sure they will be out Friday at 5, that’s probably just insurance if something goes wrong.
Okay, here’s a new twist (or maybe just a weird coincidence that doesn’t mean anything)… Yesterday we received an email from the CollegeBoard stating that one of the schools on our list required documents to complete financial aid information. The system was “live” today so I just logged in and - lo and behold - the school requesting additional documentation is Dickinson. Is that a sign that an acceptance decision is on its way? Or does EVERYONE who applies to Dickinson and completes the CSS profile get asked for updated documentation even though some of those people might not be offered admission??
I don’t think you can read anything into that… and don’t sweat too much on the dates for this. My D1 ended up attending the first school she heard back from (which happened to be Dickinson EA), but my D2 ended up attending the LAST school whose letter landed in our mailbox on something like March 29. Even if you do get in, you are going to want to hang on until all of your acceptances and FA offers are in hand, and ideally go back for a few accepted student visits. Hoping, of course, that everyone watching here DOES get in!
@janjmom we got that IDOC thing too. I think it was just a courtesy reminder.
In a thread from last year on this topic I read that the request for additional financial aid docs was correlated with an offer of admission… So I guess we shall see soon enough. Interested for folks to post - if you filed a CSS profile, did you also get this IDOCS reminder? And then we can see if those of us who got the reminder are also the people who end up with acceptances.
Let’s hope!
D-Day? Off of Twitter

It’s a big week in admissions! Labels on envelopes, signatures on letters, online system being checked, checked, checked again. #dson2019
