Early Action for Dickinson 2015 Applicants

Accepted, Rush Scholarship and Dickinson Grant. I’m very happy for my D!!! It isn’t our lowest financial aid, but it is the 2nd lowest. They are not a full need met school, which I knew, so I am very happy about what they could do for her.

congrats @redpoodles! ours was the founders scholarship - only $7500 per year. not sure what that means for us, except for sure it means another visit to the school in order to make a decision.

I didn’t realize decisions had been posted, so I went to check and make sure everything was ok with the portal and found out DS was admitted. I feel a little bad for checking without him, but happy to say he was admitted with a Rush Scholarship and Dickinson Grant.

Accepted! Deans Scholarship!

D was deferred…didn’t see that one coming… it was considered a low match for her, especially considering that SATs were of 2nd importance. Tough one to swallow after a EDII rejection. So far: 6 acceptances (all safety schools) 1 deffered, 1 rejected, 10 to go…the 10 that top her list. Gonna be a long wait until late March  Congratulations to everyone that was accepted !!

oh NEPatsGirl I’m sorry. I also did not see that coming  Those 10 that top your D’s list, something just right for her is on its way to you.

My daughter was accepted! But now I’m stressed because she only got the Founder’s scholarship of $7,500 per year. Can any of you tell me how much the other scholarships offer? For instance, The Dean’s, Rush, or Dickinson grant? Thank you.

Rush is 15K, Dickinson Scholarship is 20K, the Dickinson Grant will vary according to your FAFSA/CSS Profile. What they gave us matches what the NPC says, it’s just allocated differently (more scholarship, less grant/loan). What were you expecting westcoastmom22? Is the aid significantly different than what the NPC said?

@westcoastmom22 i didn’t see it at first - because it was updated about 20 minutes later than the initial decision letter - but the financial aid award letter was also posted on the portal. you should be able to see the entire financial aid package if you check that letter.

Well, we didn’t fill out FAFSA… but every other school she’s heard back from has given at least 15K, and 2 have given 20K - we were hoping for at least close to that. This is her top choice of schools, I’d hate to disappoint her.

Fill out the FAFSA and send in your 2014 taxes etc. There is still time to adjust the financial aid and they can only go by what they received. If they give you grant money, it’s the same (TO YOUR WALLET) as a scholarship…

The 15/20K scholarship recipients have high SAT and ACT scores. The Dickinson Scholarship is VERY selective. The financial aid lady said the kids who get those can pretty much go anywhere they want…

Accepted with a 4.3 GPA 29 ACT. I received a little financial aid but no scholarships or grants.

I wonder how they decide on the merit aid scholarships if your child didn’t any, hann432?
Thanks for the info, redpoodles!

Deffered with 1960 SAT, 3.8 GPA, hardest possible classes taken (5 AP’s and all honors), 3 sport varsity athlete, >50 vol hours, great recs and essays, and a ton of interest (first choice). Should have seen this coming with a 0 EFC but its still hard to swallow. Oh well… on to the next one.

@westcoastmom22‌ The merit scholarship info is described on their scholarship page. Basically, mostly A’s for grades and 31+ for ACT.

Rush award…probably based on high SAT scores 2,200

@qwerty26…is admissions not holistic at Dickinson? Our EFC is very low as well and D’s stats were similar (2070, 4.0/4.8W, 7 IB, straight As, projected score of 41, flew into PA to visit, blah, blah, blah, blah LOL. She was also deferred and it is a bit of a shock but, if $$ effects admissions, I get it.

I hope there are other schools you’d be just as happy at. As I told D, “their loss”.

Dickinson is not need-blind. Need is considered as part of the admissions process (as per collegedata.com)…

Will Dickinson not offer a need based grant until they receive official tax returns from 2014?

@NEPatsGirl Yeah it just seems a bit shallow to me with a 400+ million dollar endowment… but what do I know. Good luck to you and your daughter.
