Early Action Letter of Recommendation Help

So for early action, I submitted my application a week before the Nov 1 deadline to University of Michigan. However, I changed my recommender the day after I submitted my app. On Common App, it shows that my teacher submitted his letter of rec the day after I had invited him but when I checked the portal the college provided me, it shows as the letter was not received. I talked to Common App and they told me that the letter was sent and that there were no problems from their side. I contacted Umich office of admissions and they said they never got the letter and that because they don’t have the letter, I will now be considered for regular decision. I even sent them screenshots of my common app account and my emails with the common app people to prove I wasn’t lying. I really want early action for this school. Please help. What do I do now? They said I could email them again if I think that I qualify under a special circumstance and that they’s keep this email in mind when going through my application. PLEASE HELP ME

@xetaerealx - you sent them CA screenshot that shows when the rec was downloaded by UMich?

Yes

Yes

You want to tread lightly on this one, but also exhaust every avenue of correcting it. Talk to your regional admissions rep and see if you can get any advice. Talk to admissions directly and simply ask…are there any other avenues I can pursue to correct this? Tell them you don’t want to be problematic and if being considered for regular admissions is the best they can do, you’ll gratefully accept that…but that if there is any sort of appeals process, or anyone else you can talk to, you’d really like to pursue it because you did everything you were supposed to per instructions to be considered EA, and you’d like to get to the bottom of what might have happened. Don’t be a pain in their butts, don’t get angry or upset…approach is as though you’re trying to be helpful to others in the future and want to prevent the problem from occurring again. If you stay calm, use tact and understanding, you’ll make a good impression and you might get somewhere. Good luck, and let us know!

Also, be prepared to accept that you might have to wait for regular decision. Through no fault of your own…sometimes chit happens and you just have to suck it up and roll with it. Being gracious when things go wrong speaks a lot of your character.

Thank you for your feedback @MaryGJ

UPDATE: My portal says that the letter has been received 12/01

@xetaerealx - and what date and time does your CA show as the letter being downloaded?

Listen, call the school. Don’t go by what’s on the website. The website is when they posted the information NOT when it is received. I learned this when I called on my application - it said EA requested and all my documents said after November 1st. When I called the school they said those dates are when they input the documents into the system NOT when they receive them. So don’t stress, call the school, they will look up YOUR application and if it’s like mine they said wait until we can get to your file, we had tens of thousands of applications and we have to match the arrival dates now. A week later mine said EA qualified.

OP said he already called them

Update: I filed a EA exception form and just in time----- THEY"VE DOWNLOADED MY LETTER AND NOE I"M CONSIDERED FOR EA-- apparently it was just lost in mail
