Early Action One Day Late

Ok, it's not as bad as the title sounds. I turned in my common application around 4:00PM PST, but the online report told me they accepted it at 11/02/11. The funny thing is I turned in my Chicago Supplement a little later (like 4:30 PM PST) and it said it was accepted on 11/01/11. So I'm wondering, since the common application arrived a day late (even if it was sent by the deadline), is my early action null and void?

I think it should be fine. Don’t worry too much about it.

the EA deadline is extended to 11/7. Don’t worry.

The EA deadline extension only applies to those affected by the storm. However, I did see somewhere not to worry if your app is marked as a day late. I can’t find the exact place…

how will the university know who exactly was affected by the storm? The storm hit the entire northeast region of the US. and even if this person does not live in the northeast, the university does not know if s/he maybe was in the northeast during the storm. Although the admissions extended the EA deadline for just those affected by the storm, the reality is, the extension is not technically restricted.

It’s an honor system. If you are not affected by the storm, you should not use the extension.

If it was sent by the deadline it is absolutely fine. They usually take a few days to upload everything anyway. Don’t worry about it. Since you sent it on time the deadline extension is irrelevant.

These are the people who, in college, will wonder when a professor says a paper is due on Monday–does he or she mean by the beginning of class or end of class, or midnight–and if the latter, for which time zone! LOL!

Yes Divine Comedy, we are on the same page. While the admissions only extended to accommodate people affected by the storm, anyone can use the extension.
