Early Action

I'm planning on doing early action for Uchicago. Hypothetically, if I get in, will other schools that I apply early decision to see that I was accepted into UChicago?

Its possible, but not likely. You DO know that you need to check the website of the ED college to make sure they have no restrictions on applying EA at other colleges, AND if you are accepted at your ED school you ARE required to withdraw all other applications and decline any other acceptances, Yes? ED colleges often send out lists of accepted students to their “peer” colleges, just to make sure students dont try to game the system and avoid withdrawing their applications. In addition, your HS GC will be informed about your acceptance at any ED college you apply to, since both you and he are required to sign a letter confirming that you will withdraw other applications if accepted.
His reputation, and that of your high school, is on the line with any ED admissions dept if students do not follow the ED rules.

UChicago doesn’t do Early Decision though, only Early Action which is non-binding.

Sorry, the post should read like this: I’m planning on doing early action for Uchicago. Hypothetically, if I get in, will other schools that I apply REGULAR decision to see that I was accepted into UChicago?

No…

I don’t think so, but why would you care? Are you wondering if that would affect their decision? How would they know this?

I read a post where one person thought they were rejected at Cornell, Tufts, and other schools on regular decision because they were admitted to UChicago on Early Action in December. I was just wondering if UChicago would send a list of accepted students’ names out, because that would definitely affect other school’s decisions.

Where do you think they would have gotten that info? Did they know people on the admit committee for each school? No.

Why is this a concern? Are you thinking that if they saw you were accepted to UChicago that they would take your app more seriously?

Other schools will not see where you are accepted or rejected. Most don’t even ask where else you applied.

^^^Highly unlikely. Probably sour grapes on his/her part.
