So I'm applying to Yale early through the common app...would i be able to submit it once for early and then later for the rest of the regular decision schools OR is it going to get locked?

Do you mean that after you submit for Yale you want to make changes? Or just send the rest later?

When you finish the application for Yale, why not just send it to all colleges at the same time?

You just copy the Yale CA to a new file. That way, you can tweak the application for the RD schools before you send them out.

IsleBoy, you used to be able to do that. This year, they eliminated the "copy" option. Once you send it to Yale, you can't make any other changes for your RD schools.

You may want to send the Yale EA application by snail mail, or if Yale has its own app in addition to the Common App, you could use that and not lock the Common App.

thanks for the info...
and Chedava, I think that's a good idea and i just found it on the website too.

I wonder if you can open two accounts in Common App. One for EA and the other for RD.

That's what's annoying me too. I know nothing will really change between November 1st and January 1st, but I'd still like to be able to change my application.

they wont let u create new account cuz u will have the same name and address stuff

Phew, I'm not applying ED anywhere. Wait, that doesn't make anything better does it -_-. I would recommend snail mail, just pay a bit more for faster delivery :)
