During my interview, the alum mentioned that Princeton is going to do something a little different this year. He said that they were going to send out acceptances earlier this year as they read the applications. He reasoned that since early decision doesn't exist any more this is how the school will remain competitive or whatever. Anyone else hear anything like that from other reps or alums?

O also he said that this only applies to people who applied in early December for "priority admissions" whatever the heck that means.

The Ivy League has an agreement to delay acceptances until March 31. They do get around this on a limited basis with likely letters. Perhaps the alum meant that Princeton plans to use likely letters more widely this year.?

I agree. I think that's prolly what he meant.

You know the part in A Very Long Engagement when Audrey Tautou tries to race a car that's going around a bend and going to be obscured by a hill and says "if I win, [my MIA fiancee] lives," and she gets to the end, and she sees neither a car coming nor a car leaving?

That's a lot what these likely letters sound like.

She did find her fiancee, though, although he was suffering from memory loss...

So that's kind of hopeful.

weak comparison - anyways - do they plan to send letters to regular ppl without legacy/athletes/any real hooks?

Screw the priority deadline! I had other things to do!
