Is it bad to audition on the first available audition date? It’s not for early deicision…just to lighten the load in January but Ithaca is a top choice for my daughter.

My son did it last year and was accepted. It was one of his favorite auditions; it was also his first “real” audition in a group setting. Is Ithaca still holding both ED and regular auditions on the same early December date? Our impression based on what other people said during the year was that this audition is significantly less crowded than the later ones, which my son found to be an advantage.

Also Nordeal-Ithaca is doing prescreens this year which is different than last year.

Thank you so much. She did do the prescreen. I wanted the december date (which is for both ED and regular) but was then discouraged to have her audition that early since it is one of her top choices…you have given me something to think about. So many are in January…I would like to take advantage of early auditions. Congrats to your daughter…and thank you both!!

and of course this all based on whether she makes it through the prescreen!

I attend Ithaca and several students auditioned early in January and got accepted during the first week of February. After they got accepted they cancelled all of their other auditions. I think that’s a smart choice to go about auditioning if it is your first choice.

We are in the same boat, my S doesn’t want Ithica to be one of his first auditions but in order to get all 10 in we have to take advantage of the December date. He wants to visit every school vs unifieds. Same with one other early school but I guess one of them has to be first. This is too assuming he gets past the pre screening.

D is doing 2 other auditions before Ithaca so it won’t behind her first but it is a a top choice for her too. Hope she passes the prescreen then we’ll see some of you in Ithaca on December 7. Thinking at least there is a pretty good chance they won’t be knee deep in snow by then (she’s doing Syracuse mid-January and I KNOW they will be knee deep in snow by then - not looking forward to that 4+ hour drive!)

I was thinking the exact same thing cellomom, about the snow. Unfortunately S has to rerecord his prescreens so I think he is going to miss the deadline for 12/07. My drive is a little longer and I am NOT looking forward to taking it in February but it looks like that’s where we’ll be.
