Hi,

My counselor said both she, a parent, and I have to sign an Early Decision Agreement on the Common App.

I have already signed it, but I can't find the place to send the common app agreement to my parents anywhere.

On the common app, it says:

The applicant must read and sign the agreement from within his/her Common App account. He/she must then notify the counselor that he/she is applying ED.

The counselor must read and sign the agreement from within his/her Common App School Forms account (if the counselor has agreed to complete school forms online).

The parent/legal guardian must also read and sign the agreement. The Parent/Legal Guardian must go to the URL, enter their email address (enter it exactly as it appears on the notification email; it is case sensitive), read and sign the ED agreement, then save it.

Students must select a parent/legal guardian at the bottom of the page in the School Forms section before the online ED agreement is sent to this person. The student should enter the Parent/Legal Guardian details and save the page.

How do I get to the School Forms thing? Does my counselor have to send the agreement to a parent via email?

My counselor mentioned that I could somehow print the agreement out, and hand it to her. Does anyone know where I can find it?

Thanks!

As my son was going through the Supplement for his ED school, once he completed his ED form, there is a parent section explaining again the ED commitment. He was then prompted to send me (or a parent) an ‘invitation’. There is a pop-up and your legal name and email is entered. I am assuming it should match the information that was given on the application. An email is then received by the parent explaining the student is applying ED and a form needs to be completed by a parent, a link is provided. Click the link, read the text, check the box, and ‘esign’. Hit submit. It was surprisingly smooth. Then at the bottom of the page ‘recommenders’ a notation is made that the ED form has been completed and the date.

I’m going from memory here and the CApp is down, or I could open it and walk through. I do know the GC has to fill out their form. Ours handles forms online so is aware, but has not asked for a form. I hope this helps. Again, just walk through the steps completing the supplement and you should be prompted straight through the process.

We had gone through the process blue iggy describes and gotten the green check for parent signature, but then D’s counselor opted out of electronic submission with common app (because of this year’s many problems) and the counselor had D instead print all the forms for every school, including the ED Agreement. We (parent and D) had to physically sign and date that paper version of the ED Agreement before handing it to the counselor to sign and mail in.
