Early decision, but don't withdraw apps?

What happens if you apply early decision to a school and get in, but you don't withdraw your applications, as agreed under the early decision contract? I mean, I already withdrew all of my applications, but I was just curious what would happen if you didn't...?

Thanks for the help!

Some schools share information among themselves regarding ED admits, and are rumored to revoke those that they discover didn’t hold their end of the agreement.

Run the risk of being blackballed when your ED school finds out and shares your duplicity with other schools, and, minimally, you incur bad karma.

Advice: do the right thing. It may become a habit.

Here’s what I’ve read:

ED schools share their applicant list with other colleges. If a student has applied to college X ED, and to College Y ED, EA, or RD, and College Y learns of the ED application to College X, both schools will deny the applicant.

If College X has already accepted the student ED, and learns from College Y of an open file, College X will rescind the admission offer.

Colleges with ED applicants do share that information broadly. The precise mechanism… I don’t know. I do believe that FAFSA lists all the schools to which an applicant has sent FAFSA with all the other colleges to which applicant has sent FAFSA.
