So at one point of my college applying frenzy, I applied to American U under Early Decision. I felt that I would be viewed as much weaker candidate under RD. The thing is, is that I did not follow the "ED protocol." I emailed the admission officer and requested for my application to be switched from RD to ED, but I never sent in my forms with the parent and student consent. Am I able to escape this one?

what did the admissions officer say after you requested to be switched from RD to ED? surely he/she must have replied with instructions…

He replied saying it has been done and I have been switched. In my email I said I was going to mail it by the weekend, but I changed my mind.

So you applied RD, asked it to be changed to ED, changed your mind again, and never let them know?

^Lol

Do you actually want to go there? If so, you better email the admissions guy again and let him know what your deal is. Actually, do that whether or not you still want to go there because otherwise you’ll look rude and indecisive.

I’d appreciate it if you would kept the witty comments to yourself.

But I guess I will email them tomorrow. I just received the mail decision a couple hours ago.
I’m only indecisive because I haven’t heard from Fordham yet.

You need to contact admissions ASAP. At this point, it’s highly unlikely they will move you to the RD round; rather, if you decline ED admission by pointing out you never sent in your forms, you are declining any admission at all. You are obligated to withdraw apps from other schools barring financial reasons, so you need to call American immediately to let them know you are declining admission. Ethically, you can’t wait for your Fordham decision to come in before doing that.
