Early Decision ECE?

Hey I was wondering if someone chooses ECE as the desired department in CIT for ED, are they still eligible for acceptance into other departments in CIT if they are rejected in ECE? Or are you rejected from CIT totally? thanks

That would be considered CIT rejection. If ED, you could reapply to HSS, MCS or SCS. But if rejected from CIT, SCS is even more likely to reject you. MCS-Math or PHysics perhaps? Write your essay so that you have a shot at reapplying- if you are 100% ECE is my life, it will not go well on a reapplication. Some research stream perhaps that crosses ECE and Physics would be an ideal way to craft your essay leaving wiggle room for an MCS reapply. Lots of overlap obviously in those two fields.

When I went through, guys were often rejected from ECE but accepted into CIT. Doesn’t mean much, as a lot of people that had ECE will drop it after their first year. (They say you don’t declare your major until after your frosh year or first semester of sophomore year, but they still have a limited number of spots for ECE.) Everyone that I talked to after the first year that didn’t get ECE to start picked it up. It’s no big deal.
