I read that Wesleyan had about the same number of ED applications this year as last but haven’t seen any stats on the profile of those accepted. Has anyone seen it anywhere? I think Wesleyan posted it last year on their web page but maybe I’m misremembering. I was surprised that Wesleyan’s overall stats didn’t go up last year despite the surge in applications (but they did enroll a few more students than usual). Anyway, just trying to get a sense of whether Wes is moving upward in the official stats. My daughter attends Wes and loves it so I’m just being curious!

ED applications went down very slightly after a huge spike last year: [Wes Maintains Large ED I Applicant Pool ? The Wesleyan Argus](The Wesleyan Argus | Wes Maintains Large ED I Applicant Pool)

MOMH20 - be aware that there’s a one to two year lag between when stats are published by a college and when they appear in USNews (I dunno whether that’s what you were referring to?) I’m not saying there will be a dramatic difference in Wes’ ranking; other LACs have also seen increases in apps (both Vassar and Carleton come to mind.)

No, I meant the figures that Wesleyan itself reports on its own website. Wes stayed flat at 700 for median in all three sections of SAT last year for students who actually matriculated despite the surge in applications. That’s fine with me. Suggests that they care more about admitting the right students than improving their stats. Wes also published the credentials of the students who it admitted last year. So, I was just wondering if Wes has said anything about the credentials of the admitted students. The Argus article mentioned the application numbers but said nothing about credentials.

I’m also a current Wesleyan student who just finished her 1st semester. I applied ED last year
Congrats to all of you guys who got in! It’s the best feeling in the world Wesleyan is an amazing school and I could not have asked for anything better. SuperMarioJ is right; you cannot have an ego at Wes. You will work hard but you will learn more than ever. Some of the professors here are incredible.
For all the deferred: Don’t give up hope and definitely keep trying!
And if you were rejected, there are definitely plenty of schools out there and don’t be disappointed. The admission at Wes is so random at times.
Good luck with all your future studies, no matter where you end up :)

Got into Wes!

In my opinion, they look for qualities that make you stand out. Whether it be academic, demographic, athletic, or any other “-ics,” the process was all about letting Wesleyan and every other college or university know what makes you special.

In my case, it was my hard work in a particular sport that payed off.

Pumped to be a part of '14!

Congratulations, TM! It shouldn’t be too long before we hear from some others.

I’m ED II. so nervous!!!

Deferred.

Fk that St, right?
I’m looking for numbers on how many they defer but can’t find any. I can’t tell if this is one of those “let you down easier pseudo-rejections” or an actual “we’re not sure yet” deferral.

Ugh. This sucks.
