Early Decision Notification

nns91, Bowdoin claims to be need-blind, which means they don’t take into account your financial need in the admissions process. Whether or not this is actually true I do not know, but that’s what they say

They are only need blind with American students.

for future applicants reading this! NEVER PUT YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET. hope for the best and prepare for the worst!

Seriously, what type of material was the envelope? I got in  but nervous fingers can’t handle something that tough to open

skibro said that the acceptance envelope was thin-ish, but can anyone say with certainty if it’s big or small? and by big or small i mean 8 1/2 by 11 vs regular letter-sized

hmmm, sorry nns91, that’s a lame policy.

as for kiyaar: it’s a little bigger than a sheet of paper, probably 9" by 12". If you’re worrying about the dimensions of the acceptance envelopes this much, I think you’re a little emotionally invested in this, haha

I know. Actually, the director of Admission told my counselor that it is like that Bowdoin will accept international students who do not apply for Financial aid under ED. Thus, I kinda had a feeling about my decision before today.

Haha. You’re probably right Skibro. But thank you for entertaining my curiousity. I’m just anxious, and annoyed that my letter didn’t come today and i have to wait until monday to find out.

for all of those deferred, one of my close friends from high school who is also in my class at bowdoin applied ED and got deferred, then in the regular decision round got waitlisted, and then FINALLY got accepted about 2 months later… the process can be long, but there still is a possibility. just keep showing your interest and don’t lose contact with the school. they do keep track of those who keep in contact with them… best of luck!

hey guys…I have to wait til monday to find out about the decison
I have been sitting on the couch all day…it is seriously killing me

kiyaar and libsterxd i feel your pain. im almost tempted to have my counselor call tomorrow during school, but i’ll wait until i get home - afterall patience is a virtue.

i got my letter yesterday and I’m in. I’m soo happy it’s crazy

yeah…i’m going to bolt home as soon as school is over tomorrow.

i would. my sister called me screaming to tell me about my letter. Good luck to everyone. and to everyone that got deffered, it’s not the end of the world. It means they found something they liked, and something they didn’t. The easiest way to go about this is to email, or better yet call the school and ask them what you can strengthen about your application.

The acceptance letter is a relatively big one–it fits a regular-sized two-pocket folder inside. Congrats to everyone else who got in ED1!

I wonder if you guys would feel comfortable posting stats with decisions… I think last year’s crowd did it and it’s helpful to future classes.

I am in!!! I am soooooooooooooo haaappppppyyyyyyy right now.
on my way home I kept thinking that I was gonna get deferred…
congrats to those who got in and for those deferred, keep up the work and don’t lose hope/contact with Bowdoin!!
to those rejected, there would be a school that you’d be happy in!=] keep up the good work!

Caesar123 check out the decisions thread, I posted my stats.

Dolphin, your stats are really impressive… I’m amazed Bowdoin deferred someone like you. Thank you for directing me to that, it’s actually what I wanted to see. I got deferred as well and it’s consolation to know that somebody so qualified is in the same boat as me. :)

UGH. i got deferred.
