Early Decision Rejection for a rolling school

My daughter applied rolling to Wake Forest ED1. She was rejected and now wants to apply to another school ED1 for the November 1st deadline. Common App is saying that she can’t do that. Why? I don’t know of any other colleges that offer rolling ED1, so I don’t know what the precedent would be. However, it seems to me that if she was rejected, should be permitted to apply as she wishes. Please advise. Thank you.

I think that ED is ED. Even though they give their decisions on a rolling basis, your student has committed to WF being their only ED 1 app when they submitted it. They could still do ED 2 somewhere else though, or rolling/regular admissions anywhere.

@VinnyD , I see three options.
1)Contact ComApp and explain the situation. Prove WF said no, and ComApp may allow another ED app.

  1. Use the Coalition App to apply.

  2. Apply directly to the school.

I think she needs to apply EDII.

Talk you your student’s GC about circumventing common app. Echoing post #2…most schools have their own app, also check if school is on coalition app.

Thank you for your responses. I called Wake Forest and they said that she should be able to apply ED elsewhere. They told me that we need to show Common App that she was rejected, and they should remove her ED commitment from the application. Having said that, I hadn’t considered that she could apply on the Coalition App. That is exactly what we will do. Thank you!!
