<p>so this kid at my school today mentioned that he just got admitted into columbia early decision. right away, I thought he was pulling my leg for two reasons. First of all, my school's valedictorian last year didn't make it in. Second of all, I thought that Columbia did not tell you if you made it in ED until January. Is this kid an outright liar or did he actually already get told if he made it in?</p>
<p>Columbia ED starts sending out decisions middle of December. I'm willing to bet he's just pulling your leg.</p>
<p>As for the valedictorian compared to him, that's all relative. Ivys especially can be as unpredicatable as tornados, accepting a good student while passing over a brilliant one. I wouldn't be too discouraged by that little fact.</p>
<p>The admissions people haven't even started meeting. There's no likely letters for ED, either.</p>
