Can I graduate from University of Alabama in Huntsville in less than four years by taking CLEP exam or any other tests and getting credits ? Will I have to take summer classes ? Please, explain.
@jessie777 , Credit by CLEP examination is allowed if the appropriate academic department has approved the CLEP test for use by the University. Credit awarded for CLEP examinations will be recorded on the student’s record without grades of quality points and will not, therefore, be included in calculation of the grade point average. If a student does not pass a CLEP test, no record is placed on the transcript. Examinations may be retaken six months after initial testing. You should check with your program of study and your academic advisor to determine which, if any, CLEP examinations may be used to satisfy either free elective or degree requirements. UAH uses students’ ACT/SAT and AP scores to place them into the appropriate courses. If students aren’t satisfied with these placements, we do offer placement tests for students to attempt to achieve a higher placement.
Taking summer classes is optional. For the average student who enters college with no prior college credit from Dual Enrollment, AP, etc., we encourage them to take at least 16 credit hours per semester (Fall and Spring). This route has proven true in graduating students in four years. However, some students prefer to alleviate their Fall and Spring course loads a bit by taking a class or two in the summers. It’s a balancing tactic some students prefer.
