Early Write from Swat, Silence from Amherst

I just received my early acceptance letter from Swarthmore (YAY!) this afternoon, but I haven’t heard anything from Amherst yet, and I know they sent their early writes over a week ago. Is this something that should worry me? I know that if I don’t get an early write from Amherst, it doesn’t mean I won’t get in, I just imagined they’d be very similar pools! Any thoughts?

:)

Well, you may be just what Swarthmore wants for its class.

Many applicants with exceptionally strong scores apply to Amherst: it can't and doesn't offer admission to all of them.

BUT... that doesn't mean that you won't be accepted in the more traditional fashion. Actually, while early writes are really nice, one might consider if they aren't just one more level of stress out there.

I understand both things!

Just trying to pass the time until all of the decisions come out.... turns out CC is NOT the best/most relaxing place to do that!

I'm just hoping for the best. For me, and the rest of y'all! :)

I wouldn't worry too much. I'm sure that you will be admitted to Amherst, if not by some sort of late early write, then by regular admission. Students such as yourself that are strong enough to receive an early write from Swarthmore definitely have the qualities that Amherst also looks for in a student. I was accepted to both Amherst and Swarthmore with an early write and I didn't think I had the qualities that they were looking for in a student so if one of them thought you had the qualities to be such a standout they wanted you early, then there is an extremely high chance that Amherst also wants you too. Good luck!!!
