regarding the blackboard, i tried it and i could log in. i think it's fun. anyone want to join??? :)

Mine doesn't work--but I'm not accepted yet (?) Does it only work once you're in? Did you receive an early write?

Yeah. It's for accepted students.

If I got accepted early-mid this month, does that mean I'm an Early Write student? I got a phone call earlier this month, but it was a little while after people started posting on this thread. I'm just wondering if maybe it's b/c I had sent my stuff in towards the very end. In any case, they told me I'm in, I got the big purple folder w/ the characteristic Williams statistic - I'm just curious if it's considered Early Write. I guess anything before April is Early Write?? Idk... Amherst made theirs a lot more clear! In any case, I'm glad to have gotten into both! Well congrats to everyone else!! Wish me luck on my Ivy decisions coming late this month and in early April!

Yeah, everything this month is early write...I know for sure because I emailed the admissions office and they said regular decision acceptances go out March 29, so obviously they will be received by most in early April.

Oh ok. Cool. YAY!! Early write to Amherst and Williams!!! Woo hoo! Although, I'm not sure how much weight "early writes" actually hold. I hear they're marketing shams more than anything. Well ok, I'm out. Congrats to all again and good luck to those of you still waiting!

YEAH! :)

APDoolittle, the Williams letter mentioned the words Early Write in mine (near the end I think).

There's the early writes letter and there's the regular acceptance letter.

I got an early write letter stating explicitly that it was an "early write." One of my best friends got a letter about a week after--but it seemed to be just the ordinary regular acceptance letter (and by ordinary, I mean extraordinary--I mean, this is WILLIAMS!) and I was wondering... is that still considered an early write? Despite the fact that he didn't get an "early write letter"?

Yay! my blackboard thing finally let me in. Okay. Cool. Now I'm going to go look at it.

Me too. Did not know my Williams ID was in the finaid letter (it wasn't mentioned in the early/acceptance)

I browsed around, but there are almost no messages in the forums!

However, I do appreciate the nice Adobe Acrobat Professional that seems to be available for download!

yay!! i just got my early write!! I am completely psyched.

Did you get it today? I'm still holding out some hope, but I'm going absolutely insane!

^^^^
yea i just got it today. don't give up! i had for a bit but i finally got it.

How was it sent? Thanks.

yes i received my acceptance in December. :D hope u also get in. best of luck ;)

It seems like there are only two posts in the forum, both from adcom-like people. I at not at the correct forum at the blackboard site. Also, is photoshop cs 2 a good version of photoshop to download (that's the one they have at the site), or are there newer versions of photoshop? And are the software downloads at the blackboard site for admitted students too, or are they just for current students? It just seems to good to be true that they're giving us all this free software. Thanks for any replies.

the blackboard thing just let me in...

Oops, didn't realize that I had to go to "my courses" then go to "forum" to get to where all the posts/messages are located.

The blackboard thing is pretty neat! I wish I had time to actually respond to the forum questions. Hah, but then again, I do "waste" a lot of time on CC fora. Oh well.... I should make an effort to talk w/ some accepted Williams students in case I choose to attend. In any case, good luck to those of you still waiting, congrats to those of you who also got in, and my best wishes to those who have been rejected; the world's full of opportunities and you'll thrive wherever you go!

-Jon :)

Aha, thanks metsfan, for the info on where to find the forums! I couldn't find them either at first. Oops, hehe.
