Early write

What is an activity sheet?

It's like an embellished list of extracurriculars - similar to a resume.

Many applicants have more extracurriculars than can fit in the allotted space, and choose to send these "activity sheets." I never sent one to any of my colleges...but Amherst apparently did not mind. :)

Ah! I got mine today too. Funny that it reached Florida before NC but it's all good in the neighborhood.

Problem: Accountant has not returned 2005 Taxes. He's gonna get it...

have any of you applied to both williams and amherst and only gotten an early write from one? i'm just wondering b/c i'm a legacy at one of the two (i won't say which) but i got an early write from the other.

Amherst, yes. No early write from Williams. Why won't you say which you're a legacy at? It might be helpful.

i applied to both but i also got early writes from both. they came saturday and yesterday - i've been randomly breaking out into happy dances for the past four days now : ).

i have a question though- both the letters mentioned open houses, as well as individual overnights which you can call up and arrange. does anyone have any thoughts on whether it's better to go for the whole official spiel at an open house or just try to get an idea of an average day on campus? I'm really like both schools, and i'm still waiting on 7 others, so I'm starting to freak out about how I'm going to decide!

Wow, upsilamba18, I'm in a situation pretty similar to yours! I applied RD everywhere and have early writes from Amherst and Williams, received on Saturday and yesterday. And I'm waiting on 7 other colleges too!

As for the open houses, I tend to like the average day on campus more, because the official propaganda always makes every college begin to look pretty similar to others (for me anyway), so I would rather know the "nuts and bolts" of how my life may be like for the next four years. :)

yeah, that's what i was thinking too. i generally have a really low tolerance for college spiels - i went to one official "prospective student" day at U Chicago last summer and i got so bored and fed up with it that i actually got totally turned off of the school and i didn't even apply. I just keep thinking that since they each seemed to be really into the open house idea, there must be something to it? Oh well, I'll probably call them up tomorrow and see if i can get an overnight, if my assistant principal will let me miss physics again without getting dropped from the course, lol. oh, and congratulations! i have to say, those two letters certainly made an awesome start to the week : )

Would any of you who got in early write mind sharing your stats? I'd kind of like to know where I stand, I'm getting so nervous!
