You wouldn’t mind telling us your stats would yah?

for those of you guys who’ve gotten the likely letters, are you guys from the east coast? i know it may seem like a waste of time waiting for these letters, but i’m still nonetheless curious and, dare i say, even hopefuly for one.

Are any of you who received the early letters athletes or just regular applicants?

Yes, I am from the East Coast. No, I am not an athlete. As for stats…

Demographically, I am a white, upper-middle class male and I attend a competitive public high school; I have no legacy. Academically, I have something like a 3.96 GPA with a rigorous course load; my test scores are high but not outstanding. In terms of extra-curricular activities, I am extremely involved, with many big leadership positions; I have also earned several significant awards in music. I also know that I had flattering, effusive recommendations and I was pretty happy with my essays.

Bottom line, I think that I’m a fairly “regular” Amherst applicant and just feel incredibly blessed to be in early. The hard work has paid off!

Best of luck to the rest of you!!!

i got a early acceptance letter today and i applied RD. i live on long island

sooooo happy :D

Got one yesterday. Go Jeffs!

i still can’t believe i got in early

You can check out my objective stats on the Yale thread… After being deferred from Yale, I really improved my essays. I think that the writing you submit really becomes the deciding factor for early writes/likely letters (imo - this is my 3rd likely/early write).

nice, this is my 2nd (other was wellesley)

wow satellite, that’s awesome, where else did you get early writes to?

yeah, i’m curious too. where else?

Hey! Congrats on the likelies! I’m curious though, did you guys get a likely letter in the mail with no previous indication of its arrival?

I just got one in the mail. No previous indication of its arrival.

OMG I just got a likely letter too. It was SO unexpected. I keep looking at the letter like it’s going to disappear. My mind was so focused on the last week of March for decisions, that I don’t believe this actually happened! :D

yeah, i got it in the mail w/o any prior indication

My son got his Amherst letter in the mail today, dated March 7th; we are in the Midwest. It wasn’t a “likely” letter, though, it was a straight acceptance letter. No prior email or phone contact, although the letter did say that someone in his field of interest would call sometime in the next few weeks.

Would any likely letter recipients mind posting their stats? Has anyone from California received one yet, or will it be a few more days before they get to us?

My son’s stats:
- ACT 36.0, PSAT 240 (SAT not taken), SAT II 800’s in Math II and Physics
- Class rank 1 in around 400
- AP Scholar with Distinction, took 8 AP tests sophomore year and got 5s in six of them
- Captain of Scholastic Bowl, senior peer leader on Math Team (there is no captain) who won competition ribbons in 6 of 6 outings and tutors his teammates in advanced strategies
- Peer tutor in all AP math and science subjects: stats, BC calc, physics (B and C), and chemistry; teacher’s assistant in AP Bio (class still in progress)
- no music or athletic ECs, just straight academic focus

These are pretty atypical stats, so if you didn’t get a likely/acceptance letter yet, you shouldn’t lose hope about gaining admission!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH I LOVE YOU AMHERRRRRST, SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCH a

I have my stats on my stats profile.
