Hello :) I'm graduating with my degree in biology from a community college. The time spent for that degree was three years, from 2012 to 2015 (only have two classes, both of which are spring semester only, to complete before graduating). I was thinking about applying for their veterinary technology program, which requires two more years. That means I won't transfer until 2017 and when I do, I will be 24.

I've heard it isn't too old, but I still would like some feedback and opinions.

I wouldn’t worry about being too old. There are plenty of people going to college in their 30’s and 40’s and even older. 24 is very young. However, I am wondering what your plan is. Usually a Vet Tech degree is designed to give you skills to enter the workforce as a vet tech. What would you eventually be transferring for? If you are thinking about being a veterinarian, the vet tech program is not a stepping stone. Typically a pre-vet would major in biology at a four-year school, and it sounds like you are halfway there already.

The vet tech degree may not take you a whole two years either, since your gen ed courses would “transfer” to the new degree program. It would depend on how long it takes to complete the vet tech clinical courses.
