Hello- does anyone know which major is the “easiest” for getting accepted into UP? I’m would like something along the likes of communications/ public relations, yet not sure if that is one of the super competitive majors. I have a 1260 SAT (retaking) and a 3.75 GPA unweighted, with all honors or AP classes. Thanks in advance for any advice!
There is a general premajor for those within the college of comm who are undecided on which major to do. If you are worried about getting into the College of Comm, I would encourage you to turn your application in before November 1, select the general comm premajor, and indicate a willingness to start in summer. The college of comm isn’t overly competitive but I believe the PR major itself may be. Also students aren’t technically accepted into the major as a freshman. They have to complete a certain number of required courses, declare the major at the end of the sophomore year, and have a minimum GPA. Honestly, if your unweighted GPA is a 3.75, you should be fine for the College of Comm. There’s never any guarantee, but you are definitely in range.

Advertising and public relations is a controlled major. Students must apply when they have earned 40-59 Penn State credits, have a minimum 3.3 cumulative grade-point average, and a C or better in ECON 102 and ENGL 15, 30 or ESL 15 to secure entrance into the major.
