I visited washu last summer and really want to go there. I dont have an idea of what i want to do in the future as of now (in a way, i think im suitable for almost every field). I have a 2140 SAT and 3.7 unweighted GPA. I was just wondering what are some of the easier majors to get into, because getting in is the only thing that im concerned about right now.

Maybe we should start a FAQ for Wash U admissions. This question would certainly be on it. That doesn't make this a bad question, just a common one. Here are the most recent admissions stats from Washington University in St. Louis :: FACTS 2007

Most relevant to your question is the following

Applied Enrolled Pct

Arch 593 52 9%
Art 549 75 14%
Art & Sciences 14573 828 6%
Business 2906 153 5%
Engineering 3807 230 6%
Total 22428 1338 6%

Overall Wash U admits 17-19% of applicants and of those about 1/3 attend. Now of course you can read those numbers above and readily conclude that it is easiest to get into the Art school. However, the Sam Fox College of Art & Design may have a higher yield (% of accepted students who enroll) than the other schools, so interpret with caution.

Wash U maintains that all undergraduate schools have roughly the same admissions criteria. That would make sense since Wash U makes it very easy to transfer from one undergraduate school to another.

I doubt your intended major within a school has any influence on the admissions decision for two primary reasons. First Wash U does not permit freshman to even declare a major, and second a very high percentage of students change their mind after a few semesters anyway. Freshman general chemistry in particular is very successful in getting all the freshman entering as premed dispersed among many more departments within the university.
