Got accepted at UBC, Bachelor of Arts yesterday!
I need to choose my major but I’m having trouble with that…

I was originally planning on doing International Relations (Vancouver) but
someone told me it is really hard to get a good GPA in that major.
English isn’t my first language and people say that there’s A LOT to read and write
in IR…
Is it really that hard to get a good GPA in IR?

How is sociology / political science / psychology etc.
(please don’t be limited to these majors. just any easy major will be fine!)

In that case, what’s a major that is easy to get good GPAs?

1) There will be a LOT of writing and reading in any Arts program. UBC requires that you take specific writing, reading, research, etc. courses just to get a BA.

2) Ease is no criterion for picking a major. Maybe UBC and/or Arts isn’t right for you.

You shouldn’t be going to college just to get a good GPA. The whole point of college is to learn about academic topics that interest you the most and prepare yourself for your preferred job.

I agree with caligulashorse. GPA is only important in High School. In college, it’s all about actually learning the material and getting a degree. It’s still a good idea to have a decent GPA (for scholarships and such), but it should NOT be the reason behind choosing a major.
