Well personally, I like universities like Brown that give you the freedom to find your own niche... thts why I have unis like brown, swarthmore, dartmouth etc.. on my list. But my favourite is JHU but the thing is that they give verrryyy little aid and its sometimes very hard for us intels asking for aid to apply to go to the university we really really like. But I would be extremely happy going anywhere ...As for my academic calibre, you can say I will get around 2100 SAT I (got 1990 last time but didnt study lol), ~ 750+ SAT IIs, top 5 % in class, a lot of international exposure ( 4 years in india, 6 in germany and travelled around the world almost), OK ECs (something I can work on right now and ideas will be greatly appreciated)....

Eh I think you got your information wrong... Swarthmore can't have an admission rate of 45% - overall or international. I mean, their admission rate is usually below 25% and with the application explosion last year (20% increase at Swarthmore if I didn't remember wrongly), the admission rate just can't possibly increase - and certainly not by 20%!

Hmm if I were you I'll apply to SEAS, since you're interested in Engineering (I mean if you don't like, you can always try to transfer to College of Arts and Sciences), and besides, it seems to be a lot easier to get into SEAS than College of Arts and Sciences, judging from RJC's acceptance statistics for the past couple of years:

2005: SEAS (9/40) vs Arts and Sciences (5/54)
2004: SEAS (11/23) vs Arts and Sciences (4/34)

Hmm... if you like engineering yet you want a place that offers you the freedom to find your own niche, Swarthmore sounds like the best place for you...

yeah it sounds bull to me too... heres where i got it from:
http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/rankings/brief/webex/earlydec_brief.php

Oh that's ED acceptance rate... which is believeable i guess. I really wished I had applied ED to somewhere :(

ED/EA or any set of acceptance rates are misleading because they don't take into consideration the self selectivity of the applicants.

Never use acceptance rates to decide where to apply.

^^^ 100% true

should i just apply to lafayette ED then .. i think that would be a much "safer" option..but there will always be a "what if" stuck in my mind

yes... What IF?? Thats a big question. Ask ur inner self. U will get the answer :)

my inner self is a retard..lol :)

does anyone have a good experience applying to these schools ED:
Vanderbilt
Lehigh
