I was accepted into both of my safeties (and ironically rejected from all of my reaches....), and placed in a very interesting dilemma. I am trying to decide between NYU and Vanderbilt University, both of which I adore profusely.

If my focus was to pursue East Asian Studies exclusively, the choice would be obvious and Vanderbilt would be off my list entirely. Yet, political science is a compelling interest of mine, and I would want to leave breathing room for possible changes of heart in the future.

If it was merely a question of academics and resources, the choice would clearly by NYU. However, what attract me to Vanderbilt are the exact characteristics that NYU lacks -- its gorgeous campus, politically conservative student body, feeling of having a unified community and actual campus. The schools are polar opposites in terms of the lifestyle, perspective, and set of values that each provides. It's a very interesting contrast and a very difficult choice.

I would be interested to see if any of you might have some advice that could help lead me in any direction in making this decision.
