I'm really passionate about theater and I've had lead and supporting roles within my high school but I've never had an opportunity to win acting awards. How should I let the admissions people know that I am devoted and talented and it's something I love without having any awards? How is theater considered in the admissions process? Is it necessary that I mention it in my essay? Thanks!

soo ummm...anyone?

"How is theater considered in the admissions process?"--

Don't worry about it, it's the thing that AOs consider. Just do the best of you and make sure that AOs know about your experience in Theater Work.

I think essays are used to tell AOs something that they cannot get from other parts of your application or something that is really important to you( an experience, an award etc.) So do you think you have some significant/unforgettable experiences which are related to Theater Work, or some detailed events that mean a lot to you? If yes, you may write about it in your essay. Otherwise, I suggest you use "Additional Information" section in the Commonapp. Write a paragraph to explain/ describe your work at the Theater, and your passion on it.

I am not being cynical, but if you wanna EMPHASIZE your theater work, I think it's important to explain "how you are talented" but "not winning awards"--although we all know that "awards" is not everything...If you just wanna list it as one of your ECs, then ignore this.

Those are my personal suggestions. Hope these could be of help

Good Luck;)
