EC vs community service vs awards/honors?

AGH the Texas App - which the Texas public schools want and they don't take the Common App - is confusing about the activities. Anyone know anything about it?

They say this:
"Please list, in priority order, the organizations, activities, jobs and internships that indicate your special contributions, talents, honors and abilities in the areas of extracurricular activities, service and work. Include service and work done in the summer. "

Then they give these 3 separate areas:
"Extracurricular Activities
Volunteer or Community Service
Talents, Awards, Honors"

In the instructions they describe them this way:
"* EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: Memberships or offices held in clubs, whether elected or appointed.
* COMMUNITY SERVICE: Volunteer work
* TALENT/AWARDS/HONORS: Sports, cheerleading, musical ability, academic honors and any type of awards or certificates received"

Okay. So the club my daughter is in that exists solely to do volunteer work - is that EC or is that volunteer work? or both? They have meetings but the majority of the involvement involves singing at nursing homes, probably 90 percent of the time involved. Do they really want stuff listed more than one area?

And are dance lessons and voice lessons under talent, in that case, rather than EC?

And what would we call her church youth group then, as much of it is charity work? is it a club or community service?

And what about UIL (statewide scholastic competition) That is definitely an extracurricular activity, but she won awards. Does she list it both places?

The activities part is a PAIN IN TEH ARSE!
