There is a trick to doing ECE at CMU even when your not admited to ECE that I heard from a current student.

You just enroll in engineering without a major, take ECE courses, and then go pester the department about how good you are at ECE and how you deserve that major. They will let you in if you have good grades at ECE courses, or so I’ve heard.

I plan on pulling this stunt IF I get into CMU but NOT ECE, decided to go there over other schools AND EVER GET A FREAKIN DECISION!!!

Yes, I got accepted to CMU but not into my desired major at CIT (was waitlisted). They want a short essay or something out of me which I will send back this week, but yes, it is possible. Hopefully I get into my major (Computer Engineering).

shave31, your statement is too broad. What we know is that at least three people were waitlisted cit(ece) only, showed such online, but got package which says they are cit(admit). Third thread I found was from CoolCalculator

imagine carnegie was playing a big joke on all of us… and waitlists were really acceptances =D oh gosh, that would be awesome.

but really now, what’s the deal with the promised letters that aren’t coming? i’ve expected this letter since march 20. this has been such a long wait.
