Econ 11 Fall 07

Ok so who took Mcdevitt's midterm last week and completely messed up? I didn't even get to finish the test... It seemed like a lot of people didn't finish in time either.

That's normal for McDevitt, same happened in my first Econ 102 midterm with him last quarter. But there's a curve, so don't worry too much.

I was honestly susrprised to hear this from many people. I've heard it from last years 102 McDevitt class, this years 102 McDevitt class and even this year's Econ 11 McDevitt class.

When I took his class, I always finished with lots of time to spare, but hearing people say they could not even finish made me realize why his curve was so generous. His first midterm of 102 last year seemed so easy (I got like two multiple choice questions wrong and that made me get a B+) yet a 70 or so was like a B+.

omggg that test...EVIL! :( hard T_T

It was ridiculous... you can't read the book which sucks cause you have to go by only what you learn in lecture and the study questions. The sad thing is I mastered those study questions hoping he would pick questions similar to those and put them on the test... however only one of those types of questions was on the test... the rest was a complete curve ball. The multiple choice was basically a guess for me, as well as the two fill in the blank questions. And the big 34ish point or something problem I didn't even get to finish...

In regards to grading... how does the curve work? Say a 70 was a B+, does it follow that a 65 is like a B or B-?

I don't remember, but I think like 55ish was a B.

If you left the big 34 pt one for last, you should do that one the next time you take one of his tests. Nail the quick and easy (multiple choice) and then do the big questions.

Multiple choice questions are killer though. They are worth so much and you get no partial credit. His final has like 20 or 30 multiple choice. Talk about difficult!

I had my 1st McDevitt midterm last week for 102, ran out of time too....
