For econ majors, the L&S website says that you have to take either 20, 21, or 25 as a prereq. 25 isn't on the catalog and neither is in on the new spring schedule, so it's safe to ignore it, I guess. What's the difference between Stat 20 and 21?? The descriptions seems really similar.

[Prospective Majors](http://www.econ.berkeley.edu/econ/ugrad/prospect_prerequisites.shtml) says that you can also take Statistics 131A or 134, or IEOR 172. Statistics 134 may be worth considering if you want to do economics with more math and statistics (e.g. for preparation for graduate school in economics).

take 21. just do it.

Lol, @crowslayer91, is this a Physics 7 situation?

Pretty sure econ 21 is more business oriented so I’d go with that.

If Econ 21 is more business-oriented, what’s Econ 20 more oriented toward?
Is one of them more math-heavy or is one of them geared more toward Math 1A/B folks as opposed to Math 16A/B folks?

wt-ef is econ 20/21. you guys mean stats 20/21.

and lemoncat,
what are you intending to major in? business? economics? stats?

Yeah, @crowslayer91, that was my bad, I meant to say Stats. The reason I said Econ was because it’s a prereq for my Environmental Econ. major, so I got them mixed up for a sec

I never took stat 20 but I would imagine an intro to stat is pretty similar across the board.

I took stats 21 and didn’t notice anything “business oriented” about it, seemed like a pretty basic stats class. Just take whichever fits into your schedule better.
