UCI: Business Economics
UCSD: Managerial Science
UCSB: Economics + Accounting

I'm totally stuck on which school to pick. Can anyone tell me career paths from each school with the majors listed? How recruiting is at each school? How difficult is UCSD's management science major (I've heard some brutal things..). Social aspect, I know SB blows the other two out of the park, but it's the prestigious/job landing/career path/difficulty is what i'm focused on. Or would picking one school over another even be that big of a difference career wise?

Please go with the atmosphere with the school, not the prestige. You will do better if you enjoy the environment. I would go with UCI, because of the internship possibilities. There’s bunch of great recruiters here… I mean I got amazing internships and I go to a community college here. Can’t go wrong with UCI.

What CC do you go to @Eviity? And what internship have you landed? Yeah, Irvine has really good companies. I live 10mins away. However, I think I can land the same internships as Irvine students no matter where I go. I.E. I can apply to Price-water summer intern positions if I attend school at ucsd/ucsd.

Here is the list of internships available here: [2013 Internships in Irvine, CA](http://www.internmatch.com/c/irvine-ca). There’s investment banks here too. Just explore… : ); I don’t know what job/intern possibilities there are with managerial science, why didn’t you just pick economics? I know management positions are quite difficult to land without an MBA.

Are there really that many internships available through UCI?
I always thought it’d be so competitive that underachieving students (mostly As, no honors, no experience) like me would never have a chance.

Oh you’re a transfer. I’ve heard that both recruiting at SB and SD aren’t the best for finance/accounting, but obviously, if you actually care a lot, you’ll get one at either place. The UCSD econ department is actually ranked really high, its surprising it doesnt get as much recruiting as UCLA.

Hey, so what school did you go with? I hope you realize that the difference in prestige and rank between SD and SB is negligible, if even present at all, but as far as recruiting for accounting, UCSB is one of the 3 primary target schools for the big 4 accounting firms in the LA area–the other two are UCLA and USC. In the San Diego area, UCSD would be the target school of choice for the big 4. My point is, you cannot go wrong with either school.

I was in the same situation as yourself but I chose UCSB because I would like to work in LA some day. I am a transfer student who graduated CC with a 4.0 GPA. Needless to say, I had options but chose UCSB.

I hope that you are happy with your decision, and be sure to let us know what you decided.

Same situation.
GPA 3.91
Economics major
Still deciding between SD, LA, and Irvine. Any thought? My friend at UCSD seems to really enjoy the program. Idk about UCI and UCLA though. Im having a really hard time choosing 1 of those 3 schools.

SB has the best recruitment for accounting and a great econ program, it is a huge feeder to any of the Big 4 firms. SD recruiting is really non existent, but you can network if needed. Not really sure about UCI.
