I know, there are tons of threads on this, but I haven't really seen an answer that I want. I know econ is theoretical whereas a bba is more hands on but which is more applicable in the real world. Ideally I would like to double major one of these with international relations. Basically I want to be able to get a job once I graduate college/grad school (depending what route I take) and I want to know which one is more applicable. I ideally want to go into business. Thanks

Your question is incredibly vague. What do you mean by “business”? What is it that you actually want to do? “Business” could mean literally a million different things.

You can get a job with either of the majors. It matters more about yourself if you take the time out of your summer to find an internship and such. Do what you enjoy the most.

Econ isn’t really more theoretical than finance or accounting. That’s like saying biology is more theoretical than gardening simply because you focus primarily on how it works (no disrespect to business majors out there). The difference between finance and econ is that one group applies the concepts while the other studies/tests them.

To answer your question though, I personally believe economics makes you a more flexible job candidate - especially if you minor in computer science, mathematics, or something of the like. If you’re super concerned with a job out of college and don’t really know what you want, go with economics.
