Economics and mathematics major, should i go to CPP?

so i am planning to go to Cal Poly based off of its location but i was wondering of the quality of Cal Poly pomona’s Econ and Mathematics department. Other Schools i am considering are Riverside and San Jose State. How are CPP’s Internship oppritunities for buisness based majors? thank you

I got accepted as an econ major but i will switch to accounting just because of the lack of course offerings. Looking at future and past schedules, most econ classes aren’t offered year round so you’d have to plan it out very well to graduate on time. On top of that most of the higher econ classes are only offered in the evenings which doesn’t work for me.

I’m pretty sure you can’t double major anymore. I wanted to do a double major in physics and math, but you MUST graduate with both degrees at the same time (I’m pretty sure or be put on some plan where you must fulfill a pledge).

Anyways, the mathematics major is good at Cal Poly Pomona. I’d say it’s very solid and if you take a lot of applied math classes like Operations Research and classes in stats you’ll definitely be an asset to companies. There are some amazing teachers but there is a subset of all teachers that I wouldn’t consider particularly the easiest to take GPA wise. They’ll definitely make you learn your stuff, but you will probably end up failing the class. Be forewarned: the people in the stats department aren’t too lenient on grades. They’ll grade you pretty harshly for making simple mistakes. Don’t mess up when your first exam counts for 50% of your grade. You will meet a lot of either hardworking, smart, or both people in this major.

I don’t know much about the business program or economics program. Last quarter I was under the impression they were overpopulated by frat guys and lots of people who couldn’t hack it as engineering majors when they came in. That’s what a previous engineering major told me over lunch last quarter anyway. But there are some pretty smart and hardworking people in any major/discipline.

Thanks for the insight, CalDud!

Thanks Alot Caldud! your answer helped alot and was very detailed.
