I know that UIUC is top ranked in engineering (especially computer science) and business programs. But how is their economics major; is it strong? Is it shadowed by their engineering and business programs?

Any info about economics at UIUC would be appreciated. Thanks.

Economics major at UIUC is respected enough not to be shadowed by engineering or business. UIUC students who majored in Economics are well recruited in the job market.

Thanks, tomahawk89. Do you perhaps know which/what companies recruit Econ students? And how is UIUC's internship opportunities for Econ students?

economics majors are recruited by business companies and are also listed along with Business majors in the career fair list grid, however it is mainly only for Finance related fields. Internship wise, unless you're resume is outstanding you will most likely be overshadowed by the "real" business majors at the business career fair, however Iconnet which is the other recruiting tool you can use can be helpful at getting you an internship at times. In general, if you're going for economics (and since you need to get a supporting major) most people also do Poly Sci. or Math.
