I am interested in majoring in economics at UCLA, yet as well I would like to major in music (singing performance, specifically). How would I possibly do this, considering that I definately DO NOT want to apply to the school of Music to gain admission to the college?

it would be very hard to double major in econ and music performance, considering that the two majors have completely different major course requirements. Performance is pretty competitive too.

If you want to try though, apply to UCLA as an economics major. After you get in, go to Murphy Hall and get a petition for change of major/double major, fill it out along with the other required forms and stuff (you should try going online and find out what you need to do). I think you will have to audition too.

Not too sure about this part, but I think they will have you change your major to music first, and then submit a petition for a double major in econ.

hope that helps.

My significant other is majoring in Biochemistry and English, two totally different departments. The only way this is possible is to take 4 classes a qtr, along with many summer courses.

Be prepared to be taking a good 17 unit load every qtr.
