Economics Programme at BM

Hello,

I need help with choosing my college. Could u please tell me how good is the economics programme at BM? I plan to major in it.

Thanks.

I don’t know that much about the econ program at Bryn Mawr in particular, but I do know that you can take as many classes as you want at Haverford, Swarthmore and UPenn. I know a woman who is vice president of her division at Goldman Sachs and she went to Bryn Mawr, took a lot of econ classes at UPenn, and took summer classes at London School of Economics.

I plan to major in economics as well, and I haven’t made my decision about Bryn Mawr yet, but I am not concerned about not having good enough econ. You have enough opportunities there to do anything you want in terms of economics as a subject. If I decide to go there, I like the idea that I can take the introductory classes at Bryn Mawr where they will be small (instead of like 200 people at Penn) and then take upper level courses at Penn.

Also, you may want to just browse through the course catalogue and see if the courses interest you… that’s what I’ve been doing to get an idea of the department. Google the professors and see what their publishing… or email them and ask. Once you’ve been admitted, they’re very nice about responding and seem to be quite helpful.

Oh, it sounds good. I am not much familiar with the relative strengths n weaknesses of my list of colleges as i am an int’l n hence, i am unable to visit em. Thanks. I am turned on by the flexibility and the study abroad options available.
