Hi people
could anyone plzz tell me about the strengths of economics and mathematics department in Bryn Mawr?..I would be very grateful. Thanks ^_^

Math major here =)

Math is one of the most popular majors at Bryn Mawr. Our professors cover all the broad areas of pure math and Haverford offers some applied courses as well as fun electives, like Cryptology and Dynamical Systems. We also have a small graduate program in math, and strong undergraduate students are allowed to take graduate classes. A few students even graduate with a full Master's degree after 4 years!

I particularly enjoy the strong community within the math department. We just had a math holiday party two weeks ago where we played DDR with our professors. (It was hilarious!) Another notable event is the Distressing Math Collective (DMC) which meets once a week for two hours. In the first hour a student gives a talk about a mathematical topic of her choice, and then we play games and have cookies afterwards. It's a lot of fun and you should definitely stop by some time!

Bryn Mawr also has a great track record of getting students into PhD programs. When you look at the percentage of female math majors who go on to earn a PhD, Bryn Mawr ranks 6th in the nation - ahead of most Ivy League schools and all other women's colleges! PhD productivity study

Please let me know if you have any questions. I would be happy to tell you more about math at Bryn Mawr or Bryn Mawr in general.

I would like to add something to my previous post. While the focus of our math department lies on pure math, the economics department offers a number of applied math courses on its own: several statistics courses, game theory, equilibrium theory etc. Occasionally the math department offers a course on mathematical finance, or you could take it at Penn.

I am afraid that's all I can tell you about economics at Bryn Mawr, but I will go bug a few econ friends and ask them for their input. Stay tuned!

Thank u so much for the info...n yeah...i'll stay tuned :)
